Gone Loco with Local Lizards!

June 4th, 2010 Posted in Scales And Tails

Last month we had one of the coolest nights ever.  Scales and Tails’ Jeremy Westerman presented a workshop on the lizards native to Utah.  After the presentation we all got to learn how to catch a lizard with a stick and  piece of dental floss.  First we practiced on plasic lizards until we got the hang of it.  Then Jeremy put some REAL LIVE lizards in a small swimming pool and we each got a chance to try to catch them.  After we each at scored a lizard, Jeremy put in some bigger, an a bit more angry, lizards into the pool.  We learned how to noose them, then how to properly pick them up so that they would not bite us.  It was SO COOl!  Afterwards, we all go to take our lizard catchers home and a bag of fake lizards so we could keep practicing on our own.  I had so much fun!  I can’t wait for next month’s workshop.  I hear it is on Turtles and Tortoises!
